The day I saw Beyoncé in concert

The day I saw Beyoncé in concert

It’s a week ago that I was at the Beyoncé concert in Frankfurt of her Renessaince world tour! This concert meant everything to me, Beyoncé represents everything I want to be: graceful, self-confident while elegant and humble. Her talent speaks louder than any critics and she’s just such a strong personality and her art is perfection to me. When it comes to music, few artists can captivate audiences and ignite a global frenzy quite like the iconic Beyoncé. From her soulful voice to her mesmerizing stage presence, she has become an epitome of talent and excellence in the music industry. Let me tell you why she means so much to me.

When I was a little girl there was a girl band named Spice Girls and they were everywhere. Of course you know who I’m talking about and at first I liked their music but only until I discovered Destiny’s Child. These girls were the ultimate girl band for me! Even though I had no idea about what their songs meant as I didn’t speak english as a child, I just fell in love with the beat and the voices. Destiny’s Child was my favorite band in the world. Until they split in 2006.

Luckily Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland continued solo. I remember the summer when “Crazy in Love” came out and I knew from that song on that Beyoncé will just play on a whole different level in the music industry. From then on, every album, every song that came out to me meant perfection.

When she came out with the album 4 and Beyoncé she made feminism trendy and her songs were the reason I got into feminism and what that movement meant. One of the most remarkable aspects of Beyoncé’s concert was her unwavering commitment to celebrating empowerment and diversity. Through her music, she amplified the voices of marginalized communities and shed light on important social issues. Her performance was a testament to the power of inclusivity and representation, sending a powerful message of unity and strength. It was truly inspiring to witness an artist use her platform to advocate for positive change and uplift those who have often been silenced.

I’ll spare you the part where I talk about which of ther songs meant what to me and why. Everybody who likes music will get it cause you will have such songs from your favorite artists. Now what I do want to tell you is the overwhelming feelings I had when I was on the way to the concert. We drove from Munich to Frankfurt and blasted her music on full volume in the car and then I just broke out in tears. I couldn’t believe that I was about to see one of her concerts. I could have never imagined to see her in a concert.

And this has a lot to do from where I come from. My family was not poor but we wouldn’t spend money on things like experiences. I grew up in a working class family, as a first generation immigrant. I lived up until I was 16 in a social housing. Pretty much until I got the Beyoncé tickets for my birthday this year, I could not even imagine to spend so much money on a concert. I mean truth be told I didn’t as it was a gift. So the reason I cried was that there was a dream coming true that I thought was so far out of reach for whatever reason. I guess this was just my 16-year old self that couldn’t believe her luck. So yeah I cried a lot and when we were at the concert I also cried a little but mostly I was just in awe of her show. She is definitely worth it!

This whole experience last week inspired me to share my thoughts and to be more thoughtful about what I whish for because here’s an extremely cheesy note: Dreams do come true.
